OUR AIMS - THE GALLOWAY MEAT COMPANY

We appreciate that you care about what you eat and our goal is to provide you and your family, with only the very best tasting, most succulent and healthiest beef, lamb, hogget and mutton available - and it is all sourced in Galloway.

There are a number of steps that we follow to make certain that we achieve our goal:

Firstly, we ensure that the beef we supply is from either Galloway or Highland cattle, as these two traditional, native breeds are acknowledged to produce the best tasting beef of all.

Similarly, we source local Jacob and Scotch Blackface sheep as we regard these as the two breeds of choice for producing flavoursome lamb, hogget and mutton.

Such animals are perfectly adapted to the conditions met in Galloway. These cattle and sheep are at home here in a climate to which the breeds have adapted over centuries; they graze in a tranquil landscape in which they can feed naturally on the diet of herb-rich, grassland vegetation to which they are most suited.

Secondly, we stipulate that the cattle and sheep we source are bred, born, raised and finished in Galloway. In this way, we can monitor carefully the consistency and quality of the livestock which we purchase.

Thirdly, we insist that the cattle and sheep offered to us have been cared for in accordance with the highest welfare and ethical standards and we ensure that the animals are allowed to mature naturally at their own pace and without unnecessary supplementary feeding.
